Planning concepts

Planning concepts are collections of settings that can be associated to different groups of parts. Some default planning concepts are:

  • Non Stock
Used for items that are phased out or non moving.
  • Just in case
Used for slow moving items, especially when they are expensive. This planning concept contains slow moving models like the Typical Demand Quantity. Also the statistical demand distribution is catered for slow moving demand patterns.
  • Lean
Used for expensive fast moving items. Similar to wholesale.
  • Proactive
Used for non moving items that can still contain future reservations that need to be covered. This planning concept uses proactive demand forecasting.
  • Wholesale
Used for cheap fast and medium moving items. Involves the more traditional forecasting and inventory models, similar to retail.

Planning concepts can be edited, added and removed by Admin users.

Settings

As mentioned, each planning concept contains a collection of pre-set settings. In essence this creates templates or strategies for planners to assign to different groups of parts.

For example, the Proactive planning concept contains a predefined Planning method set to Proactive.

The individual settings in these planning concepts can be overruled on assortment level and on part level.
