Viscon transforming inventory management through smart planning

From diverse assortments to standardised solutions with Lanza

Viscon is a global leader in automation for the food and agriculture industries. With a broad and varied product assortment, the company places a high priority on availability and reliability. However, manual processes and data overload created significant planning challenges, leading Viscon to reimagine its inventory strategy with Lanza.

Overcoming manual processes and planning inefficiencies

Before implementing Lanza, Viscon’s inventory management was under strain. Stock levels were only reviewed twice a year due to the sheer amount of manual work involved. This infrequent planning cycle led to inefficiencies in working capital usage and recurring stockouts. Demand fluctuations were hard to respond to, and planning decisions were often based on incomplete or outdated information. The lack of a structured, responsive planning process led to both overstocking and shortagesplacing pressure on service levels and internal teams.

Creating a foundation for scalable and data-driven planning

Viscon launched an initiative to improve both internal processes and supporting tools. Multiple solutions were considered, but Lanza was selected for its analytical strength, intuitive interface, and hands-on, pragmatic implementation approach. Internally, Viscon also aligned departments and updated forecasting methods to ensure that the new system could be adopted effectively.

The implementation revealed the complexity of Viscon’s assortment – ranging from high-volume spares to niche components – each needing tailored planning logic. With Lanza’s flexible configuration, the team was able to apply standard rules where possible and introduce item-specific business logic where necessary. Procurement parameters such as order quantities and lead times were also fine-tuned to improve operational efficiency.

Gaining control, consistency, and clarity in stock planning

Since going live, Lanza has helped Viscon establish a more proactive and professional approach to inventory management. The company now consistently achieves a 90% service level across its full assortment – fast and slow movers alike – while minimizing excess stock. Lanza’s exception-based insights and automated recommendations allow planners to work more frequently and with more confidence, reducing the margin for error.

As a result, Viscon has seen stronger delivery performance, better demand responsiveness, and more efficient use of inventory budgets. Planning has become more strategic, consistent, and controlled – bringing calm and clarity to an area that once felt chaotic.

“Thanks to Lanza, we’ve turned a reactive and manual planning process into a streamlined, insight-driven operation. It’s brought consistency, calm, and clarity to an area that used to be unpredictable and chaotic.”
