Exceptions

Exceptions are the key to Lanza’s ‘management-by-exception’-philosophy. Lanza manages the bulk of parts automatically, but planners are notified when anomalies occur.

Such anomalies are called exceptions. Lanza offers a wide range of predefined exceptions, such as identifying peak demand, unreliable lead times, and high safety stocks. On top of that, in Lanza it is possible to add your own custom exceptions.

Using exceptions

When an anomaly occurs, the related exception is triggered for that particular part. Using the Focus-app, users can filter on an exception to find all parts where a certain anomaly occurs.

Moreover, the exception is shown in the Parts-app. This allows users to analyze to part to determine if any action is required. Often, anomalies can be solved directly in the Parts-app, for example by excluding peak demand (see below), adjusting the lead time, or any other action.

Exception check

Exceptions can be used for one-off analyses, but are even more powerful in an exception check. This is a standard periodical check, where all relevant part anomalies are reviewed. Typically, this check is performed before an update of the planning parameters from Lanza to your ERP-system. We advise you to perform monthly parameter updates, and thus exception checks.
